We arrived Thursday, not long after the gates opened. Our tent was all set up by four thirty with the aid of our friends Peta & Andy. We were unable to camp next to Peta, Peter, Lia & Andy as our tent was too big!! But we found a pitch not far away.
Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t as kind as last year for much of our time there. Downpours lead to mud soup & funny smells!! But we still managed to see some great comedy & music.
Friday was the best day for weather, with a full day of sunshine!! Leading to a great sunset at the end of the day. It meant we could all have a walk about. The children had a lot of fun on the fairground rides. We made butterflies & generally ran about enjoying ourselves. Ed, having not slept well at all headed back to the tent for some much needed R & R!! Team GB leader & mini members headed off to see KT Tunstall. Who was BRILLIANT!! We caught a little of Paloma Faiths set too. She was wearing some bizarre outfit, for sure!!
Unfortunately, by this time, a bite on Ed’s hand had caused some swelling & we packed him off to the medical centre. He returned with advice to take some antihistamines & keep an eye on it.
Ed went to see the Never Mind The Buzzcocks show on the Saturday, with Peter & Andy. The rest of Team GB joined Peta & Lia for a stroll about & some donuts. We met up with the boys at the Obelisk stage in time to see Ed Sheeran. It poured with rain though & we were all a bit soggy & cold. Ed’s hand had swelled even more so, back to the medical centre he went. Returning with antibiotics this time & a warning of nasty side effects!!
Back at our tent. All a bit more tired. Dried out, almost & a bit sad. I suggested we go home on Sunday. Much as we still wanted to see more. The rubbish weather was affecting our team spirit & Ed’s hand was painful.
So, come Sunday morning. We were packing up as soon as we were decent. Peta was a massive help (as we were a team member down due to injury) taking down the tent & bagging stuff up as I was taking trips to the car & back.
Glad as we were to be home on the Sunday. It hasn’t put us off from next year. Well, maybe just day tickets & a nice hotel……………
