Ferry cross the Fal…

We were blessed with another cracking day of Cornwall sunshine and we were determined to make the most of it. We got up and headed down to the ferry pier to get a boat across the harbour to St Mawes.  We were early enough to get our tickets (return!) and have a look about before we headed off.  The pier we left from was the far end of the high street and there were some memorials to Operation Chariot which was the codename given the to the Raid...

Sunshine and castles

Lots of walking was planned for what felt like our first ‘full’ day in Falmouth after the slightly later start to the previous day.  We were blessed with sunshine and clear skies as we headed out.  Our destination was Pendennis Point and ultimately Pendennis Castle that dominates this headland overlooking Falmouth Harbour.  The walk up to the point afforded us great views of the harbour to our left.  There were two very large Royal Navy...

James & Kate, Rabbart, Bygones, Walled Garden, Hall, Playground, Chinese and video games. Today was the annual Team GB trip to Holkham Hall on the Easter weekend and this year we were accompanied by James and Kat. We certainly seemed to be blessed with better weather than we were last year. We arrived more or less at the same time as James and Kate and immediately headed for the Bygone Hall brandishing our tickets as we entered! Its a...

At Leith we got to see the boat…

More walking was the order of the day today as we decided amidst an air of indecision to walk to Leith out by the Forth of Firth.  Its the place were the old HMS Brittania royal yacht is moored and we decided to treat ourselves with a cooked breakfast at the hotel before setting out.  We were again blessed with nice weather and the walk from the hotel to Leith took about an hour walking at a leisurely pace.  Parts of it were not particularly...
